Staying at Riad Tarabel in Marrakech
Before I get into my experience staying at Riad Tarabel, I wanted to explain what a Riad specifically is and why you should stay in one. A Riad is a traditional Arabic home that has an open courtyard in the center with no exterior windows. The only light source from your room comes from the center of the home. These homes are unique to Morocco and while you are visiting this country, you definitely should stay in one for an authentic experience. Most of the hotels you’ll find in Marrakech, especially in the Medina (the old city) are going to be Riads.
Check In
Be sure to use Tarabel’s airport transport car service to arrive without hassle. Finding anything in the Medina is much harder than it looks. I am pretty great with directions, and navigating the Medina for the first time was a struggle. With Tarabel’s airport transfer you’ll be dropped off on the main road closest to the Riad, and will have someone escort you with your luggage to the main entrance. The check in process was so unique. Instead of walking up to a desk, you’ll be personally checked in by Laurent, the General Manager, and invited to sip Moroccan mint tea.

The Riad
Riad Tarabel is a spacious and beautiful Riad. I was surprised to find that in person it was much larger than I thought it would be from the pictures online. There are two levels plus a rooftop where you can enjoy breakfast and lounge under the Moroccan sun. I liked how there were plenty of common spaces with comfortable seating where you could lounge and still felt private. There are two beautiful courtyards, a traditional feature of a riad filled with orange trees and a pool.
At night the Riad becomes serene, relaxing, and romantic. The common areas are lit with candles and lamps that lightly illuminate the space. I loved having a glass of wine while enjoying the peace and quiet.
The design of the space had a beautiful neutral Moroccan French Colonial fusion. Wicker chairs accented with beautiful chandeliers, murals, and whimsical accessories.

The Room
Each room inside the Riad will have a different layout depending on the size, but will still be equipped with the same style and features. I especially loved the authentic artwork and intricate tiled floors. Our room was spacious and even had a working fireplace for cool nights and a clawfoot tub.
I especially loved the bath products here! The amber scent of the hand soap and body wash was so nice.

The Location
If you want to be right where the action is in the Medina, then this Riad is in the perfect location. Riad Tarabel is just steps from the souks and restaurants. The main entrance located off an alleyway isn’t a wow factor. But don’t be discouraged from the outside entrance, the interior will completely blow you away. Compared to other streets inside the Medina, Riad Tarabel is located right off a main road so finding it won’t be as challenging.

The Food
We ate dinner one night in the Riad because we could not find the restaurant we were looking for in the Medina. I was pleasantly surprised on how delicious the chicken was! You don’t have to leave this gorgeous Riad in order to get good food which is a huge plus.
Breakfast is included with your stay and served on the rooftop. You’ll get to enjoy fruit, yogurt, pastries, and Moroccan pancakes along with fresh orange juice and coffee.

I would recommend this Riad for travelers seeking a luxurious stay within the Medina. I loved the professional staff, the gorgeous design and how spacious this Riad was. There was plenty of room to have privacy even within the common areas. Riad Tarabel is tranquil, elegant and perfect for couples seeking an unique authentic experience.
